Regulation on Terms of Employment
An employment conditions regulation is a document or arrangement in which the rights and obligations of the employer and the employee with respect to the terms of employment are set out.
A terms of employment regulation constitutes a written record of the conditions under which work is performed, such as remuneration, working hours, holiday entitlements and secondary employment benefits. Such a regulation may derive from a collective labor agreement (CLA) or from an individual arrangement between employer and employee.
The regulation is relevant because it provides clarity on the mutual rights and obligations, thereby preventing disputes and ensuring that the employment relationship proceeds in a structured manner. In practice, a clear regulation fosters a fair and transparent working environment.
In many organizations, the terms of employment regulation is periodically reviewed and adapted to new legislation or company-specific circumstances.
“The new employee received a copy of the applicable terms and conditions of employment upon commencement of employment.”
