Bar
The Bar is the collective body of lawyers registered with a court in a given judicial district.
The Bar refers to the body of lawyers admitted to practise in a judicial district. It encompasses both the local organisation and the community of lawyers registered with the court in question.
The Bar forms part of the Netherlands Bar and is responsible for local representation, quality control and the administration of disciplinary law. Lawyers must be members of the Bar in order to practise their profession.
In practice, the term is frequently used to indicate the court with which a lawyer is registered, such as the Amsterdam Bar or the Rotterdam Bar.
“The attorney is a member of the Utrecht Bar and is entitled to handle all matters there.”
