Listed company

A listed company is a company, usually an N.V., whose shares or other securities are admitted to trading on a regulated market or multilateral trading facility.

A listed company is a public limited company or comparable legal form that meets the admission requirements of a stock exchange, such as Euronext Amsterdam. The company is therefore subject to stringent transparency and reporting obligations under the Financial Supervision Act and European legislation.

This concept is relevant because listed companies are subject to additional obligations in the areas of corporate governance, insider trading and the disclosure of price-sensitive information. These rules are designed to protect investors and safeguard the integrity of the financial markets.

In practice, this means that listed companies regularly publish financial reports and are supervised by the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) and the exchange itself.

“The listed company published its half-year financial figures in accordance with the applicable transparency requirements.”
