Court bailiff
A bailiff is an independent public official who enforces court judgments and serves legal documents.
A bailiff is an official appointed by the Crown who is responsible for enforcing judgments and other judicial decisions. He or she ensures that debts are collected and that parties are notified of legal proceedings through the service of process.
The role of the bailiff is essential to the Dutch legal system, as this official guarantees compliance with judicial rulings. Without such a functionary, many judgments could not be effectively enforced.
In practice, bailiffs are frequently engaged in debt collection matters, evictions, and attachments of goods or wages.
“The lawyer instructed a bailiff to enforce the judgment against the defaulter.”
