Werkgeversverklaring

Employer's Declaration

An employer's declaration is a document in which the employer confirms the employment relationship, the salary, and the duration of an employee's service.

An employer's declaration is a written confirmation issued by the employer at the employee's request. It sets out particulars of the position, gross monthly salary, weekly working hours and the commencement date of the employment contract. The document is commonly used to evidence the employee's financial position.

The declaration is relevant to applications for a mortgage, loan, rental accommodation or certain benefits. Banks and authorities request the document in order to assess the sustainability of the income. In practice, it is usually issued on the employer's letterhead and signed by an authorised person.

“For the mortgage application, the employee was required to submit a recent employer's declaration to the bank.”
