Bankverklaring
Bank Statement
A bank confirmation is an official document issued by a bank that verifies the financial information of an account holder, such as balances or transactions.
A bank certificate is a written confirmation issued by a banking institution of specific financial information relating to a client. This document may contain details regarding account balances, current transactions or the absence of certain liabilities.
In legal practice, a bank certificate is frequently relevant in proceedings where insight into the financial position of the parties is required, such as divorce proceedings, division of marital property or debt collection matters. It serves as objective evidence and precludes dispute over the underlying financial facts.
Lawyers typically request a bank certificate with the client’s consent in order to demonstrate financial capacity or asset position in negotiations or court proceedings.
“The attorney requested a bank statement to substantiate the client's financial position in the divorce proceedings.”
