Minutes of Handover
A handover record is an official document in which the handover of a building or project is recorded, including its condition and any defects.
The handover report is a document prepared upon completion of the works under a contract for works. It records the findings of the inspection, the condition of the completed works and any defects identified.
This document is significant as it marks the point at which responsibility for the works passes from the contractor to the employer and serves as evidence in any subsequent disputes concerning quality or completion.
In practice, it is typically drawn up during a joint inspection at which both parties record their observations in order to avoid future claims.
“After the inspection, the contractor and the principal signed the handover record, by which the dwelling was officially transferred.”
